The End of the World
The End of the World is the original story of Grandpa, the son of Russian noblemen, and his nine-year-old grandson Tonda, set in the difficult times around 1968. It’s a story full of contrasts, whether in the relationship between what encompasses Grandpa’s rich life and Tonda’s childhood, or between the poetry and gentle humour and the dramatic situations of military occupation. Grandpa’s life story shows how much an individual’s fate is dependent on the course of history and the extent to which one can defy it and retain inner strength and integrity.
